Gate Card Strategy

Three gate cards must be chosen along with your three Bakugan and three ability cards. Similar to the style of ability card selection, you need to select one of each color: Copper, Silver, and Gold. Attribute bonuses and the special ability are the two things you need to consider when selecting each Gate card. Obviously, you want the higher attribute bonuses to match the Bakugan you are going to be playing with.

Silver Gate Cards do not have a special ability and are the simplest of all Gate cards. The best strategy is to choose the highest possible attribute bonus to one of your chosen Bakugan. It is also wise to balance smaller bonuses for the other attributes to help your opponent as little as possible.

Gold Gate Cards concentrate more on each Bakugan's shape or class. The name of the card will only apply to the Bakugan you have. For example, it makes no sense to possess a Mantris card if you don't have mantris in play since it grants a specific planet bonus only to Mantrises. Most of these cards allow the matching Bakugan to attain the attribute bonus from this card two times! It is advantageous if you possess multiple of the specific class if you have these correlating gate cards. Some other Gold cards are quite powerful if used correctly. (Lightning Storm gives all Haos, Aquos, and Ventus Bakugan an extra +50 G-power once the Gate card is put in any used pile. This is helpful if you have one of these attributes and it is played early in the game so you can benefit from it as long as possible. However, your opponents also can gain the extra G-power if they share the same color as well.)

Copper Gate Cards are the most difficult cards to play with since they are circumstantial cards that need to be played carefully. For instance, the G-Power Exchange card switches the G-power of the Bakugan at the start of the battle. Another card shuts downs all the ability cards being able to be played. If the opponent hasn't played any yet, the player can literally be "shut out" to play any ability cards.

There are numerous ways to play the combination of gate and ability cards. There are many different ways that they can be played - and the certain hidden combinations can be played to unleash great power. The best suggestion is by trial and error...with the mix of your Bakugan and the given gate and ability cards, one simply must find what best works for him or her.
